I finally understand FDR

I had an intellectual respect for FDR. He obviously was a great president: articulate, wise, decisive. I respected Roosevelt but never really got how he inspired a nation through the depression and World War II. With the election of President Barak Obama I now understand. Over and over I am inspired by President Obama's decisions, his actions and his presence. I do not agree with some of his decisions but something about how he makes them, calms me down and makes me want to be better. I expect those living during FDRs time in the white house and listing to his fireside chats felt the same way.

You know you listen to NPR too much when ...

My son is a bit of a worrier. And he worries about real threats: weather, Bin Laden, and now Swine Flu. After reassuring him he will be ok and talking through what happens, I thought we were square.

Later in the day, Jonathan was playing with a big semi filled with match box cars. As he is playing he said "Ok, everyone who has swine flu has to get off the truck." A few matchbox cars were escorted off the truck. He then went into a conversation about letting Obama and McCain stay.

Too cute,

Maple Spring Garden

We are very excited about out CSA this year. We did it a few years ago and loved it. We are trying a new farm (see link). Sounds like it will start the first of May if they can get some sun, instead of rain.
Today Jonathan asked "What does a whole stawberry look like?" It is nice he is curious and even better I can pull a local strawberry out of the fridge. I'm excited about him learning more from our CSA.

Full Frame: Maletilla

During our lunch break we were able to squeeze in the documentary "Maletilla" about young bullfighters in Spain. It was a beautiful, interesting film. And only one hour! Always a plus when someone knows how to edit a film to the right length.
