Fun game

This game (the title is a link, as with most of my entries) is a lot of fun. It is a puzzle so theoretically once should be enough but for some reason I often for get the "secret". So the rules are:
1. Get everyone across the river (click on them to add them to the boat)
2. The mom can never be with the boys unless dad is there.
3. The dad can never be with the girls unless mom is there.
4. The prisoner can not be with any family member unless the guard is there.
5. Only the mom, dad and guard know how to drive the boat.
6. Only two people can fit on the boat.

Have fun!

The government has to pay for people to watch tv?

ok, so $1.5 billion is not that much but still. Why does the government have to pay to let people keep watching tv? Maybe there would be more book reading or game playing or even talking in poor homes if we just didn't worry about it.

Also, I bet there will be plenty of others to fill this space. Big companies that need people to watch tv. Maybe the big 3 could give away the boxes but have them programmed to always turn on to their station.

One in 3.1 billion

Interesting article on a Penn State finding a mutation on a letter that caused skin to whiten in those who thrived in Europe. My family already calls me a mutant because of my red hair. Apparently there are 3.1 billion letters. The gene in question is SLC24A5.

Another good article: http://www.courant.com/news/health/hc-gene1216.artdec16,0,604779.story?coll=hc-headlines-health

"Because modern humans originated in Africa, genetic variation among people of African descent tend to be the greatest of all ethnic groups." ... very interesting.

Say Good-bye to UDDI

Ok, first, I had to post because of the pretty rhyme. But this is an interesting "change" in the world of Web services. What happens now to the the discovery leg of the triangle?

SOA Specification announced

It is with great pride that I am about to reference the announcement of the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Specifications. A few developers from my team have been involved with this activity over the past few months.

Service Component Architecture (SCA) provides a model for building applications. This specification is a natural extension to the component concepts already established in much of the Web Services work.

Service Data Object (SDO) provides a simple, consistent way to handle data. The promise is to provide an easy way to manage data exchange across heterogeneous data format.

Fun,
G
