An Embarrassment of Riches

I have been writing this blog post in my mind for a few weeks now. Ruminating on how blessed my life is. It was particularly evident one week when each night I had a different commitment, each unique and full of joy:

Monday: Training for Full Frame Festival
For the last 20 years Durham has hosted the Full Frame Documentary Festival. They leverage hundreds of volunteers to make the event run. In return we get access to the festival, including 5 tickets and access to the last minute line for any film.

Tuesday: Introduction to Data Science by Girl Develop It 80s
This was week three of a four week session on Python and Data Science. It was well worth the cost (only $80) and time (8 hours). The content was a tad of a review for me, but it gave me a platform to explore additional aspects of python and data science. It also introduced me to enumerate. It is one of those moments where you knew you were doing it wrong but never new looping could be that easy! MAys

Wednesday: Running with my Buds
I've moved my long run to Wednesday to take advantage of running with my buddies. I will sneak in a 5 mile solo and then join my buddies for another 2+ miles. It gives me something to look forward to and makes a long run, not so long. As a bonus we often go to dinner and drinks as well.

Thursday: TriPython Monthly Meeting
Charlotte Mays gave a fantastic, live coding overview of JupyterHub. She rocked the session! While not particularly relevant to what I need, I learned a lot and really enjoyed her presentation style. Charlotte is one of my co-leaders at PyLadies. She is investing in not only her own education expanding the resources to others interested in Python, Django, and code. If you get a chance to hear Charlotte talk, take it.

Friday: 80s Night at Durham Hotel
To finish up the week I went out drinking and dancing with my husbands and friends. Some how we got it in our head that it was a custom party and we all went full in! Hubby as a preppy boy and me in my best Jane Fonda! Unfortunately the rest of the bar did not get the message. We still embraced it, danced a lot and had a fun time.

As I reflect on the week, it describes what a lovely life I have. Full of Joy.
Cheers,
Ginny

What!?! No music? Of course some music
I wonder if I use Kacey Musgraves' 'Follow Your Arrow' too often but what the heck:
