Adoption

In light of all the Madonna adoption focus, I am suddenly aware of peoples prejuidice about adoption. It was not hidden before, it is just now given a stage for everyone to talk about.

So to set the record straight. I did not adopt my son to make the world a better place. I did not adopt my son because some women could not care for him. I did not adopt my son to be the great white hope. It is much more simple and much more complex. We adopted because we wanted to have a child and could not make one on our own. It is as nobel or as sinister as the way everyone decides to have a kid. We happened to make dozens of decisions and fill out enough paper work to choke a horse but becides that nothing too unique.

I do not know Madonna or Angelina or any star for that matter. However, I like to think they adopted because they wanted to be mothers. Because they fell in love with a child and "knew" they were the ones.
