Mutual Respect and Love

In 1961 President Eisenhower gave a speech to warn America that vested interest can pull you to a place you don't want to go. In 1961 it was the military. Thus coining the phrase "Military Industrial Complex" http://coursesa.matrix.msu.edu/~hst306/documents/indust.html

"Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society. In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist."
In recent years, I've grown nervous about our growing prison population and the private business motivation to keep the pipeline to prison. Fear and hate are used to corrupt our laws and threaten our Christian values. In many articles this is coined the "Prison Industrial Complex".

Today, I saw the term "White-Savior Industrial Complex" and an article from Teju Cole http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2012/03/the-white-savior-industrial-complex/254843/
" ... because there is much more to doing good work than "making a difference." There is the principle of first do no harm. There is the idea that those who are being helped ought to be consulted over the matters that concern them."
As I start the next adventure in my life and follow my heart, this is a perfect remind to stay aware and be grounded in the due diligence of inclusion.
